                                 Fall 2014

This should be the Fall theme at the Martha Sawyer Community Library with all the changes we have been experiencing. New people, new hours and a new computer system.

I am Marcy Polletta the new librarian at M.S.C.L. I replace Jenn Griffin who was the librarian for many years. Thank you to Jenn for her hard work over the years and we wish her well.

We have switched over to our Fall hours now that school is back in session. The library will now be open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 7:30 and Saturday from 10:00 to 1:00. Story Time for our youngest patrons will be on Saturday at 11:00. Please join us for a couple stories, a craft, coloring pages and light snacks.

We have a new computer system for managing all aspects of the library. It has been a learning process for me, but once I am completely familiar with the system it will be a huge asset to our library and patrons. As we roll out more options for searching and reserving materials I will add it to our website, facebook page and here in the newsletter.

On Saturday October 5th the library will be hosting a meet and greet for all our homeschool families in Lebanon. The event will run from 1:00-2:00 and light refreshments will be served. Come out if you are already homeschooling or are curious about homeschooling. Mingle with other homeschool families and get to know your neighbors. You do not have to be a member of the library to attend; however we can sign you up for a family membership if you are interested.

The library will be closed October 14th in observance of Columbus Day. The remainder of the week will follow regular library hours.

On October 26th from 6:00- 8:00 the library will be participating in the Lebanon Recreation sponsored Trunk or Treat at Lebanon Elementary School. Dress up in your Halloween costumes and enjoy a safe trick or treat event. For questions, to sign up to pass out candy, or to donate candy call Georgie Allen at 207-837-2138

Additionally, the library will be closed November 2nd to participate in the craft fair sponsored jointly by the Lebanon Recreation Department and the Lebanon Schools from 9:00-2:00.

Every year the library rents a space to sell donated books in order to raise money to purchase new titles. These books are in great shape and are often duplicates of books the library already owns. Please consider donating books to the library to add to our holdings or to benefit the purchase of new books. All proceeds from the craft sale will be donated to the Lebanon Giving Tree Project which benefits Lebanon residents. Tables are $15 if you are a crafter who would like to participate. They are also looking for people to bake items to be sold at the bake sale. Contact Georgie Allen at 207-837-2138 if you would like more information.

We are currently looking for interested teens to join a reading group that would meet at the library at a time and date to be determined as we gather interest. Please contact me at the library for more information.
